Generally applied theatre components are often very expensive to purchase, often vulnerable and do not have an eternal life, especially where the intensity of use is very high. This applies to the various facilities used to create the performances and shows (audio, light, video, rigging, seating etc.).
But also E-facilities, ICT, Hospitality etc) planned maintenance, its timely detection, execution and cost is nowadays an important aspect within theatre operations.
PBTA can draw up a MYMP (Multi-Year Maintenance Plan) for this purpose, from simple to very extensive, by means of an in-house designed calculation sheet or from a specific application program, for example, O-prognose. There are several reasons why preparing a MYMP is important. The most important one for many operators is insight into the costs of maintenance.
A MYMP can be a good tool to gain insight into these costs and is generally seen as a prerequisite for achieving control of these maintenance costs. Such a plan gives the operator insight into the costs in the short and possibly long term. This allows the maintenance policy to be tailored to future maintenance costs. The extent of what is scheduled to be replaced will come to light with the preparation of a MYMP.
This makes it possible to plan for efficient implementation at an early stage.
Multi-year maintenance plans for the short and longer term have therefore already become commonplace at most theatres and live-music venues.
An operator can use a MYMP to gain early insight into the costs of replacing certain technical theatre components. This makes it possible to release or reserve a budget at an early stage, or to adjust, split or postpone certain maintenance activities so that costs can be divided and implementation can be planned efficiently.
In this way, a staggered maintenance policy can be pursued that avoids unexpectedly high expenses.
MYMP’s often go hand in hand with a condition survey at the venue of the various components.
We can further develop MYMP’s into annual plans in order to draw up supplier-specific requests for proposals or tenders.
