Project Description

P3 provides space for a large and small pop venue, a large and small performance/repetition space and several pop practice rooms.

In order to realise sufficient sound insulation between the different halls, 4 building sections were basically realised. One section with the central hall and central functions, one section with the small pop hall, one section with the large pop hall and one section with the performance hall and rehearsal space. All sections are acoustically decoupled from each other by means of acoustic (rubber) bearings and separated from each other by a buffer space (corridor). This is clearly reflected in the design of the building.

Given the use, materials with a tough and sturdy appearance were chosen. With this premise, the materialization of the acoustic facilities was also considered. In particular, the “soft” sound absorbing materials to reduce reverberation in the halls and loudness in the pop halls. To achieve the desired acoustics in the various halls, among other things, perforated metal cladding with mineral wool behind it has now been chosen.

Each pop practice room is constructed as box-in-box construction to achieve good sound insulation. For the acoustics of the pop practice rooms themselves, two walls and the ceiling are angled. This is to prevent annoying reflections and standing sound waves.
