Project Description

Architect Jan Hoogstad designed this building and it opened on April 21, 2001 with a performance by the Nationale Reisopera. The Schouwburg has 3 halls: a large auditorium (Rabozaal) with 800+ seats, a flat-floor auditorium (Middenzaal) with 300+ seats and a cinema (Asitozaal) with 88 seats.

In August 2017, the name was changed from Rabo Theater to the new name Schouwburg Hengelo.
