Project Description
The Beurs van Berlage has a rich history. This characteristic building from 1903 is located in the heart of our capital city and has a unique architecture by H.P. Berlage. The various halls lend themselves well to a wide range of events. However, despite provisions already made, the room acoustics were not optimal. The reverberation time remained too long for the multifunctional use. In addition, the curtains (banners) hung in the hall disfigured the hall and obstructed the view of the characteristic monumental roof construction with glass canopy for daylight. For this hall we were asked to improve both the acoustics and the appearance of the hall. This would involve replacing the suspended curtains
with other features, taking into account its status as a national monument.
Our advice
– Reconcile basic principles of use and intended result
– Acoustic measurement of the existing situation
– Calculation of required acoustic facilities (e.g. absorption, diffusion).
– Inventory of possible solutions (both variants and complementary facilities) with the effectiveness and cost estimate for each facility. The facilities are unobtrusively present in such a way that the room image originally intended by the architect is restored to its former glory, whereby the acoustics are also significantly improved.
– Request for quotation from supplier
– Supervision during the implementation
– Acoustic control measurements
